Today we’d like to introduce you to Antonio del Moral here in Voyage MIA

Hi Antonio, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m Antonio del Moral, a known Cuban-born artist and designer in Miami. My life has been an unwavering dedication to the pursuit of artistic excellence. From my modest origins in Havana, Cuba, to my vibrant career as a Marriott International interior designer and art gallery owner/operator in Miami, my journey stands as a testament to the compelling force of passion and unwavering perseverance.

My artistic journey started in my hometown of Havana, where I delved into the world of art at the prestigious San Alejandro Academia de Arte. In 1962, I set forth on a new chapter in the United States, refining my artistic talents at the Corcoran School of Art and the American University in Washington, D.C., all while pursuing a full-time career with Marriott International.

Over my forty-year journey as Director of Interior Design for Marriott International, I had the privilege to shape the world of luxury hotel hospitality. From renowned international cities to upscale Marriott destinations, my creative interior designs adorned these spaces. The recognition as the global Marriott Employee of the Year highlighted not just my exceptional talent, but also my endearing approach to the craft. My certification as an interior designer with the American Society of Interior Designers further enriched my ability to redefine and transform Marriott’s most opulent hotels throughout the world.

Even after retiring, I refused to rest on my laurels, driven by my deep love for art and the desire to support fellow artists. My commitment to nurturing the next generation of artists extends beyond exhibitions, as I also teach painting to groups and individuals, hosting intimate painting parties in my home gallery and garden art studio.

Over a decade ago, my passion for The Arts led me to establish Galeria Adelmo in Miami’s vibrant neighborhood of Little Havana. The gallery, known for showcasing emerging artists, quickly became a haven for both local Miami talents and international artists, providing a platform for captivating solo and group exhibitions. Through Galeria Adelmo, I aim to celebrate my cultural heritage and create a space for aspiring artists to shine.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Leaving my homeland behind, I took a bold risk by venturing to America, a country where a different language echoed through the streets.

The challenge of learning a new language and navigating a foreign land was no small feat, but my determination and commitment to success propelled me forward. I knew that to achieve my dreams, I had to master the language and carve my path in the world.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Today Galeria Adelmo has found its new home in Miami’s historic Roads residential community, housing my residence seamlessly integrated as the home gallery and windowed art studio overlooking a picturesque garden. This treasure gem space offers a captivating environment for art enthusiasts who can immerse themselves in the rich artistic tapestry nurtured by my unique artistic and design style.

I am proud of my lifelong dedication to continually pushing the boundaries of my artistic creativity. My passion for painting knows no bounds while I constantly explore new techniques to express myself on canvas. Drawing inspiration from my Cuban roots, I always try to infuse each artwork with genuine warmth and vitality, utilizing vibrant colors to create captivating and expressive pieces.

From nudes and portraits to flowers, landscapes, abstracts, and beyond, my expansive artistic range is a testament to my versatility. Throughout the years, I have mastered various mediums, including oils, acrylics, watercolor, and more, resulting in a commanding collection of masterful art.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up.
When I was just 10 years old in Havana, my mother and I shared a heartwarming tradition that left an indelible mark on my childhood. We would hop onto public transportation to visit her friends almost weekly, a simple ritual that became so much more.

Amidst these journeys, we would have pleasant afternoons together with my mother’s close friends and enjoy great conversations, as well as delicious bites and desserts while being captivated by the stories they shared.
