Description
Artists draw inspiration often from other well-known artists when deciding on a subject matter to paint. Antonio del Moral found motivation from artists such as Monet, Edward Munch, and other great artisans who painted similar works. Antonio painted Garden Door during a visit to Jamaica, Virginia while having an artist painting weekend with friends and colleagues in the summer of 1980. He was drawn to the peaceful and tranquil surroundings in this small historic Virginia town poised beside a riverside home. This acrylic-on-paper painting of Antonio del Moral depicts the mother and daughter connection with a stroll through the garden. There is a warmth and glow to the work due to the subject matter. The piece shows the loose technique he uses to add substance and personality to this endearing work of art. The painting is beautifully encased in a lovely ornate three-inch gold leaf frame with a double cloth mat and an inlaid gold leaf border.
