Jay Luiz “Reconstruct”

There’s an amazingly creative artist and individual who will be showcasing his artwork at his solo art exhibition on Friday, March 29 at Galeria Adelmo in Little Havana. 

The gallery is proud to present an art exhibition of paintings by Reconstruct Jay Luiz, a Miami based entrepreneur and artist.  The “Reconstruct” art exhibition will open to the public with an artist’s reception on Friday, March 29, 2019 and will be on view through Monday, April 22, 2019.

Jay Luiz is also a recent 2018 recipient of the Red Dot Miami Selects Award Winner. His award winner painting will be featured at his solo art exhibition at Galeria Adelmo.

This artist’s early artistic background begins with blood, as they say.  Jay’s father, who was a professional sign painter by day, quirky exotic artist by night, and also his antique dealing Uncle who endlessly painted by the shore. These elements and others provided a rich fundamental foundation for Jay Luiz’s early painting endeavors and practices.

Luiz’s primary artist inspirations for his artwork come from Hieronymus Bosch, Dali, Klimt, Kahlo, Cindy Sherman and David Hockney; and toss in a degree from Massachusetts College of Art.

Growing up with very little luxuries gave Jay an endless desire to seek out and create beautiful things.  Not the pretty shine of surface but to access that deeper place where raw. grit, surprise turns and roadblocks tumble together and unveil the hidden rich center.

The gallery showcases a new emerging artist the last Friday of each month and has been doing so for the past nine years. Galeria Adelmo offers private painting lessons, intimate group painting parties, as well as a Saturday morning group art class.
