Using color as one of their main forms of expression, Pedro A. Figueredo and Rafael Montilla have created distinct individual bodies of work. Both artists work within the realm of abstraction: Figueredo in the tradition of lyrical abstraction, and Montilla in the tradition of geometric abstraction.

Pedro A. Figueredo’s series of paintings Liminal Passages expresses transitional periods in life using a personal language of colors and textures. The ephemeral stages of changes are reflected in the blending or changes of colors. In Figueredo’s paintings, bands of textures symbolizing events in one’s life interrupt fields of boundless colors representing emotions or reactions. Individual paintings may reflect a single or a range of emotions such as despair, passion, lost, or joy.

Rafaal Montilla’s works comprises of conceptual artworks expressed through minimalism and geometric forms utilizing color and shape. According to Montilla, “through my proposal, I seek to awaken the individual and change his understanding of himself, in order to recover his moral autonomy to be super conscious and live in harmony with the physical universe and ourselves.”
